Workshop Submissions

Instructions for Workshop Proposals:

Workshop Description – Identify topic area and briefly describe the specific issues. Workshop descriptions presented in the 2006 Conference Program Book will be limited to approximately 150 words. *This description can be modified accordingly as you progress in developing your workshop.

Learning Objectives – Identify three objectives. Use prefix wording such as "By the end of this session participants will be able to describe, identify, demonstrate, evaluate, explain, organanize, answer, etc."

Workshop Types:
  • Interactive workshop –"hands-on" learning among participants (i.e., CAREWare)
  • Panel – session with two or more presenters
  • Lecture – session with one presenter
  • Institute (HAB-sponsored submissions only) – series of three related workshops within the same area (e.g., quality, unmet need, housing, planning council, cultural competency)
Workshop Format:
  • Duration will be 90 minutes, including time for Q&A (30, 60 min submissions may be merged to fill the time slot).
  • Three speakers for panel workshops are preferred (four are allowable where applicable; there must be sufficient time for Q&A).
  • A session moderator is required – the moderator can be HAB staff, a grantee representative, or other conference attendee of choice.
  • Audio/visual equipment available for the sessions will include laptops, LCD computer projectors (e.g., for PowerPoint slides), screens, podium, table, and microphones in all rooms. *There will be no accommodations for 35mm slide presentations.
Audience Size: Estimated Capacity – as best you can, indicate the number of attendees appropriate for the presentation. For example, previous experience may demonstrate a high interest in selected topic; or those presenting may be comfortable with a certain size audience. The sizes listed correspond to available room capacities; please choose the size closest to your needs.

Audience Composition:
  • By Level – The skill level of attendees should be considered in developing workshop content—think in terms of grantee organization's history and/or staff experience in addressing HIV/AIDS issues.
    • Beginner – for new grantee/staff with 1-3 years of support
    • Advanced – for experienced grantee/staff with > 3 years support.
  • By Title/Program – Select designation(s) that describe the intended audience
  • By Type of Attendee – Advisory Board/Planning Council, Clinical, Fiscal, Administration
Biographical Sketches/CVs – If your submission for a 2006 workshop is accepted, the conference logistical contractor will notify presenters via email and send them a link to upload CVs and fill out a commercial disclosure form.
